About us Board of Directors Laura Johnstone Having been born and brought up in Ayrshire Laura have a strong connection with the locality served by the hospice, and has always been aware of the remarkable and respected work that it undertakes. Laura is delighted to have been given the opportunity to join the hospice Board and hopes to be able to use her skills and experience to contribute to the work of the organisation going forward. Graduating from Glasgow University with a LLB (Hons), and a post graduate diploma in Legal Practice from Glasgow Graduate School of Law, Laura spent nine years working in private legal practice in Glasgow and Edinburgh. She currently works in the public sector, for a local authority where she provides legal advice and support in relation to a whole range of areas and represent the interests of her employer in Court and at Tribunals when required. The challenges of providing advice and scrutiny in relation to a varied and diverse range of matters is something Laura particularly enjoys and she hopes that the breadth of experience combined with her time in private practice, has given her the ability to contribute positively to the work of the Board. Laura lives in Kilmarnock with her husband and two young daughters. Outside of work and other commitments she enjoys attending the theatre, eating out in our excellent Ayrshire restaurants and holidays with her family.
