Gerry is a Chartered Accountant with over thirty-five years’ experience. He retired from PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2012 as head of Pensions Assurance in Scotland. He subsequently took on a part-time role in the executive office of an AIM listed plc and as a consultant to a family-run electronics company.

After graduating from the University of Glasgow, he qualified as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. During his career Gerry worked in Europe, the USA and the far east mostly on multi-national clients. Throughout his career he has been heavily involved in education and training and served as the moderator of the Institute’s exam board for both the final admitting exam and for Assurance and Business Systems. Gerry continues to mentor CA students in their final examination process.

Gerry served previously on the Board of the Hospice from 2014 to 2017 acting as Treasurer. He was also a trustee of Sense Scotland until 2019. A long-time supporter of the Hospice, he is looking forward to involvement in this exciting new phase for the Hospice and contributing his expertise along with his fellow Trustees to the on-going success of the Hospice in delivering excellent care to people affected by life-limiting illness across Ayrshire.

Married and living in Ayr, Gerry and his wife share a love of travel and music and attending tennis tournaments, although no longer as a player.
