How to donate to our shops We completely rely on the generosity of our local community to stock our shops. We accept a wide variety of items with only a few limitations as dictated by Health and Safety Legislation. You can donate: clothing (ladies, gents, children’s), genuine CDs and DVDs, books, china, bric-a-brac, handbags, jewellery, coats, mirrors… If in doubt, give your local shop a call. We are governed by Health and Safety Legislation, the same as any other retail outlet, therefore we are unable to accept: Toys without a CE tag Children’s car seats Soft furnishings without a fire retardant label Bicycle helmets Due to hygiene reasons we are unable to accept: Duvets Bed pillows (sofa/chair type cushions are perfectly acceptable) Underwear, including bras We no longer accept video cassettes due to the lack of demand for them. Furniture Our main furniture shop is Ayr, Crown Street which is large enough to accept all kinds of furniture including sofas, wardrobes and dining room tables to name but a few. However please call your local shop to check regarding furniture and electric goods donations as not all our shops are in a position to accept them due to limited back shop space. Collections We can arrange free furniture collections – please call our Ayr, Crown Street shop on 01292 619417 to arrange. We are usually quite busy so please plan in advance – it may be a couple of weeks before we are in your area. Rags We sell any heavily worn clothing to our local rag man – so when you’re having a clear out, and even if you don’t think a piece of clothing is suitable for re-sale, start a rag bag and just let the shop know it’s rags when you hand it in – every little helps! Gift Aid it For every £1 your donated goods sells for we can claim a further 25p from HM Revenue and Customs if you are a UK tax payer - all you need to do is complete a charity shop gift aid form and we’ll do the rest.
