Jennifer was born and brought up in South Ayrshire and attended Carrick Academy in Maybole continuing at the Scottish College of Textiles in Galashiels to study Business Studies with Languages (French and German), and later did a Masters Degree in Industrial Relations at Stirling University.

She spent the majority of her career working was in Human Resources for the NHS, most recently as Director of Human Resources and Workforce Development in NHS Western Isles.

After retiring from this role in June 2018 and moving back to Maybole, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her two horses, as well as running, yoga, curling and reading.

Jennifer experienced the special person-centred care the hospice is renowned for when her mother was diagnosed with a life-limiting condition. The personal non-clinical care was of equal importance to the excellent clinical care and meant so much to her Mum and Dad and family. The small things like, the doctor’s labrador sitting by her bed, the nurse reading to her from her book, and the family Birthday Tea just days before her passing, helped us all in such a special way and something that will never be forgotten.

In her opinion, Ayrshire Hospice redefines Palliative Care from end of life care, to celebrating life, maximising opportunities and making memories with the Family. Ayrshire Hospice puts enjoyment back into life, at the most difficult and challenging of times.
