Our medical team is made up of doctors in a variety of roles including Consultants in Palliative Medicine, Specialty Doctors in Palliative Medicine and NHS Doctors.

The hospice is a training unit for undergraduate and postgraduate doctors developing their knowledge and skills in specialist palliative care.

We work closely with hospice colleagues and NHS healthcare professionals to improve the quality of care for all palliative care patients within Ayrshire and Arran with a particular focus on complex symptom control, end-of-life care and complex psychosocial problems for individuals affected by a life-limiting illness.

The team works across a wide range of settings within Ayrshire and Arran supporting patient care. This includes the hospice in-patient unit and community settings including virtual clinics, outpatient clinics, face-to-face reviews in a person’s home, care homes and community hospitals.

We also provide input to the hospital palliative care team on-site in University Hospitals Ayr and Crosshouse. The medical team support a 24-hour advice line provided by the hospice for patients, families and healthcare professionals.
