Edison Group, the Irvine-headquartered construction and property business has become a corporate partner of Ayrshire Hospice by pledging a £10,000 donation towards the building of a new hospice facility.

Founder and CEO Calum Melville said: “Ayrshire Hospice supported my mum, Dorothy, when she was terminally ill with a brain tumour in late 2021 and into 2022, so on a personal level supporting Ayrshire Hospice resonated with me.

The £10,000 donation is guaranteed by Edison Group with most of the funds to be raised by Edison Group employees’ activities throughout 2023.

Ayrshire Hospice provides specialist palliative care and services to people affected by life-limiting illnesses across Ayrshire and Arran. It is currently raising funds to construct a new hospice facility on its grounds at Racecourse Road, Ayr.

Capital Campaign Director, Hazel McIlwraith said: “We are immensely grateful to Calum and Edison Group for this generous pledge of £10,000 towards to construction of our new hospice.

“Work on site has started which is hugely exciting and we’re really looking forward to watching its progress over the coming months with the aim of returning in Summer 2024.

“Support from organisations like Edison Group are vital to the continued success of this project. We are massively appreciative of Calum and his team giving the Hospice this backing.”

Edison Group recently opened its new offices in High Street, Irvine and has been highly active in growing and acquiring complementary businesses in the construction and property sector.

Mr Melville said: “We remain firmly in the market to acquire businesses that are complementary to our group activities and are projecting sales of £20 million on a rolling 12-month basis by the end of 2023, driven both by further, already-planned strategic acquisitions and organic growth.

“We are investing substantial sums to build an infrastructure and platform to drive growth over the next few years with an expanded offering which includes construction, project management, architectural services, bespoke joinery, furniture manufacture, interior design, interior fit out, all trades, driveways, landscaping, property maintenance and refurbishment.”
