About us Executive Leadership Team Valerie Richmond Val’s working career has predominantly been within the public sector having held various positions within Local Authority and NHS, increasing her knowledge, skills and qualifications along the way. Val joined the Ayrshire Hospice in 1995 as Support Services Manager and having always lived in Ayrshire was aware of the hospice’s reputation both as an excellent clinical service and also as a responsible, caring employer. She was attracted to the position due to the diversity of the role and also to work for such a worthy organisation. Val was appointed to the Executive Team in 2010 (Support Services Director) and recently appointed as Corporate Services Director. In conjunction with the Chief Executive and Patient Services Director, the role of Corporate Services Director is to provide vision and inspirational and strategic leadership. The Executive Team is responsible for the strategic development, implementation and monitoring of the Hospice Strategic Plan. Val provides in her role the professional leadership of hospice Corporate Services, inclusive of performance, finance, governance and workforce. There is a strong focus on the delivery of effective high quality services, which not only add value, but continuously improve. Accountable for the development, implementation, monitoring and compliance of all systems, policies and procedures relating to Finance, Organisational & People Development, Administration, Estates & Facilities. Information Technology, Catering & Housekeeping and Health & Safety ensuring that the hospice is fit for purpose and meets all relevant legislation and standards. Val is supported in this diverse range of accountabilities by the Head of Finance, Head of O&PD, Head of Support Services and IT Systems Developer who lead and manage their respective teams effectively. None of this could be achieved without the commitment and diligence of the exceptional staff within Corporate Services and across the wider hospice team. Val believes strongly in continuous improvement and professional development, a principle held in high regard within the Ayrshire Hospice and since commencing employment has supplemented her qualifications by achieving the NEBOSH and MBA awards.
