Carers’ café Open every Friday between 2-4pm at 37 Racecourse Road, our carers’ café welcomes anyone caring for someone with a life-limiting illness. The person they care for does not have to have a connection with the hospice, and carers can attend as often or as little as they like. The café offers carers the time to talk, time to be themselves and time to share. Many of our visitors have commented on the peer support they gain from one another, and how helpful being able to discuss the challenges of caring is. As part of the café, complementary therapy and hand care sessions are available every week and in response to requests, a series of guest speakers are being invited to give short talks on issues such as fatigue and breathlessness, looking after yourself, managing stress, end of life care and managing medication. Anyone interested in visiting the carers café can just drop in any Friday between 2-4pm or call Lynne Carmichael on 01292 288488 for further information or to arrange a visit.
