Jessie's story

Jessie has progressive disease. Growing up she helped rear her siblings, looked after her elderly parents before having a family of her own. Unfortunately when Jessie’s husband became seriously ill, she turned carer once again, caring for him at home until he died six months ago.

Jessie describes her time at day services as “my time”, the only time in her life she has been able to talk about herself and her needs. She enjoys the company, support and friendship that day services has provided her with. She gets time to discuss her concerns and fears without “burdening” her family.
