Time for Tea at 3

Time for Tea at 3

Posted on 7 July 2016 by Monika Reichelt

Children and staff from Doonvale Private Nursery School indulged in some traditional afternoon tea this week, as part of the Ayrshire Hospice Tea at 3 campaign that will be taking place throughout June. Keen to encourage individuals and organisations across Ayrshire to take a Tea at 3 tea break in June, Doonvale laid on a Tea at 3 at their premises in Alloway in Ayr to help raise awareness of the fundraising campaign.

Barbara Cartwright, of Doonvale Private Nursery School explains “We all had a lovely time at the tea party and the children really enjoyed eating all the delicious cakes. We are so happy to support the Ayrshire Hospice’s Tea at 3 campaign. One of the children enjoyed it so much that they asked ‘Can we have another tea party soon?’”

Last year the Ayrshire community raised over £24,000 by taking part in the Tea at 3 campaign and the hospice is keen to encourage even more individuals, groups and organisations across Ayrshire to join in again in 2016 and help beat this record.

Why not hold your own Tea at 3 party for your friends or colleagues? There are loads of theme ideas – a Royal Ascot party, a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, a Teddy Bear’s Picnic for mother and toddler groups and many more! Ask colleagues for a donation at their tea break or run a Tea Dance at your local club, a garden party or even a G&’T’ party. The hospice can help print tickets and posters for you too.

Gillian Jennings from Prestwick has also supported Tea at 3 over the last few years and said I decided to host my Tea at 3 as I sadly lost my dad to prostate cancer nine years ago and the care he was given in the hospice was fantastic! Everyone was so generous, even the people who couldn't make it on the day. A team effort, for a fantastic charity that touches the lives of so many of us”.
