Sharing knowledge and experience

Following on from a number of recent volunteering visits to the adult and children’s hospice in Brasov, Romania by Fiona Evans, Community Nurse Specialist and myself, we were delighted to hear that a grant has been secured to allow a small group of clinicians from Ayrshire Hospice to visit the new hospice planned for Bucharest for a few days in April or May.

Our hospice team will provide advice and support to the Bucharest team in setting up their service in a new building and with many newly appointed clinical staff. The grant will pay for the airfares and accommodation for our team and is an amazing opportunity for both our staff and the Bucharest team. Working alongside each other will certainly provide fantastic opportunities for shared learning, service improvement and cooperation between our hospice services, and for all the individuals involved.

We are very grateful for the funding support which has come from Romania to enable this to happen and look forward to contributing to the development of the Bucharest Hospice. Watch this space for feedback from our clinical colleagues on their return!
