Reindeer visit hospice

Posted on 13 November 2017 by Monika Reichelt

Two beautiful reindeer from Ayrshire Reindeer Centre came to visit patients and staff at the Ayrshire Hospice recently, fairly brightening up the day!  Quite a few surprised faces could be spotted looking out the windows as owners, Paul Gibson and Leanne Mullen-Gibson, led them through the hospice’s beautiful gardens. Word got out quickly and soon Pogo and Princess, had lots of admirers wanting to pet them, and of course, to take a few selfies!

Claire Stuart-Paulin, Senior Fundraiser, said ‘The reindeer have been at our Winter Fair for the last few years and everyone has just fallen in love with them. They came to visit the staff and patients last year and were a huge hit, so much so we thought they should come and visit again this year.  They are such graceful, friendly and intelligent animals known for their calming nature.  Paul and Leanne were more than happy to bring their beloved animals to the hospice and it was a pleasure to watch everyone’s surprised and excitable reactions when we were walking them around the gardens”.

The reindeer will also be attending the Ayrshire Hospice Winter Fair this year on Saturday 18th November at Ayr Racecourse from 10am – 4pm.  Make sure you come down and meet them in the special reindeer petting corner. There will also be an opportunity to have photographs taken in Santa’s sleigh!
