Staff and volunteers of the Ayrshire Hospice shop in Troon were absolutely thrilled to once again win the ‘Dress Your Shop Window’ competition held as part of the Glasgow Taxi Day which took place on 15th June.  This year was the Glasgow Taxi Outing Fund’s 71st year taking sick children on a day-trip Troon.  The hospice shop have been dressing up their window since they opened  three years ago and love the challenge of coming up with new creative ways to be in with a chance of winning!  This year’s window was an eye catching Alice in Wonderland theme full of  knitted and crochet items all hand crafted by the shops Knit ‘n’ Natter group throughout the year.

Amanda Pirret, Shop Manager said: ‘I love Alice and Wonderland and last year someone donated a beautiful, old fashioned, Alice in Wonderland colouring book which started the ball rolling with the theme for the window.  The group put so much work into creating everything from knitted jam tarts and cupcakes to knitted Alice in Wonderland character dolls.’

The shop won the competition in 2013 with their Willie Wonka themed window. Amanda continued: ‘We are all on cloud nine to have won again – and we loved it when members of the Glasgow Taxi Association came into the shop and presented us with our trophy - which now has pride and place in the window.  We have already started thinking up next year’s theme and can’t wait get to work.’
