At the Ayrshire Hospice we are committed to protecting your personal information. As part of our response to the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) we have recently updated our Privacy Notice which explains how we collect, store and handle your personal data.

Across the hospice, we receive personal information in a variety of different ways. This article focusses on the data our fundraising department works with.  For example, you may share your personal information with us to make a donation to the hospice; register your participation in one of our events or join our hospice lottery. Sometimes we receive your information from third party organisations such as Just Giving or Kiltwalk where you have registered with them to support the hospice and have given them your consent to share your information with us. We treat your data with the utmost care and take appropriate steps to protect it.

Your information will be used to allow us keep a record of your support and relationship with us, to gain a full understanding of your situation, and to communicate with you. Statistical analysis and research using your data will be carried out as part of profiling exercises and we use trusted third party service providers to source additional information, which is publicly available from external sources.  For example, we regularly data cleanse our information to make sure, as far as possible, that we do not write to supporters who have not advised us that they have moved house and to whom no forwarding address is available. We will not sell your details to any third parties but we do share your information with our trusted service providers (who are authorised to act on our behalf) to help us improve the accuracy, relevance, efficiency and impact of our communication.

You have many rights regarding your personal data, including asking to see what personal information we hold about you and requesting, where necessary, that we update it. Please let us know if you would no longer like to receive fundraising communications from us or if you would prefer us not to profile you for the purposes of tailoring our fundraising efforts.  To do this please phone the Fundraising Office on 01292 288488, email or write to us at 29 Miller Road, Ayr, KA7 2AX.
