We are delighted to announce the winner of the Ayrshire Hospice Photographic Competition 2017 is Gordon Stewart, from Ayr. Gordon has won a £150 shopping voucher generously donated by Vennal Cameras in Ayr and his photograph will feature on the front cover of the 2018 hospice calendar.

When Gordon heard the lucky news he said: "I was amazed to receive the email saying I’d won. I have been into photography for quite some time and I love spending time down on our shorelines close to home – we have so much beautiful scenery."

We were also thrilled to discover that some of our hospice maintenance team had secret photographic talents when three of their photographs were chosen to feature in January, July and September of the calendar. The judges don’t know who the photographers are at the time of judging, so it was a big surprise to us all - well done lads!

The hospice calendar has been running for ten years and sells over 2,000 copies each year, raising over £9,000 for the hospice. The theme this year was Lochs, rivers and hillsides featuring Ayrshire landmarks. The pictures we received were beautiful and the judges found it hard to pick just twelve. We’d like to thank everyone who took part, Alistair Firth for his professional expertise on the judging panel and Vennal Cameras for donating the wonderful prize.

The Ayrshire Hospice calendar will be available for purchase in September at any of the eleven hospice shops or online. Once we have decided on next year’s theme we’ll announce the next competition. Watch this space so you can get snapping!
