Parkdean Resorts has raised thousands of pounds for Ayrshire Hospice at its annual Pro-Am charity golf tournament.

Back for its 29th year, the 2016 Parkdean Resorts Pro-Am saw 36 teams participate in the event at Belleisle golf course, close to Parkdean’s Sundrum Castle Holiday Park and Park Resorts’ Sandylands Holiday Park each with one professional and three amateur golfers.

A number of the nation’s leading golf professionals were out in force at the popular event, helping raise over £34,000 for the Ayrshire Hospice, a leading facility which provides care and services for people with life limiting illnesses across the whole of Ayrshire and Arran.

Dundonald Links professional, David-Ross Nicol, led the winning team Gilmour Hamilton, which included Neil Hamilton, Billy Wilson and Dick Robison in the event with a net score of 18-under-par 124.

Following the tournament, guests enjoyed a gala dinner with entertainment from after dinner speaker, Niven Rennie, where the winners were presented with their trophy.

Fiona Menzies, head of fundraising at Ayrshire Hospice, said: “On behalf of the team at Ayrshire Hospice I would like to give a huge thank-you to the team at Parkdean Resorts for their ongoing support. Since its inception in 1988 the tournament has raised upwards of £411,000 for the hospice – significant funds which have enabled us to provide essential services to the community here in Ayrshire.”

Parkdean Resorts’ chief executive John Waterworth said: “The Pro-Am tournament continues to gather support and momentum, year on year and has become a true highlight in the sporting calendar attracting golfers UK-wide.

“It is brilliant to be able to bring professionals, amateur players and the local community together at an event which gives so much back to what is an exceptionally good cause. We would like to thank all the participants for their support along with everyone who has been involved in making the day such a success.”

Parkdean Resorts is the largest holiday park operator in Scotland, with eight parks across Dumfries and Galloway, Ayrshire, Clyde Coast, Perthshire and the Highlands
