Chat and Do raise grand funds in aid of Ayrshire Hospice

Posted on 7 July 2016 by Monika Reichelt

Ron Swanson from the Ayrshire Hospice recently received a cheque for £1,150 from the community group “Chat and Do” based in St Mary’s Church Hall in Largs. The group meet on a weekly basis every Wednesday for conversation, friendship and the chance to take part in a range of activities, including knitting and baking. Kathleen MacInnes, one of the members of the group, recently lost her husband, Hugh, who died in the hospice in April of this year. Kathleen saw at first-hand the quality of hospice care that her husband received and this motivated Chat and Do to do some fundraising. The group held a coffee morning on Saturday 4th June and had a bake sale, raffles, tombolas and even sold some of their knitting.

Kathleen MacInnes from Chat and Do said “We were delighted that the community responded so well to this worthy cause”.

Ron Swanson, Assistant Fundraising Manager at the Ayrshire Hospice said “We are so grateful to Chat and Do for raising such a wonderful amount in such a short space of time in aid of the hospice.  Our charity relies on the kindness and generosity of communities across Ayrshire and every penny raised by Chat and Do will be gratefully received.”
