Chamber and Buzzworks urge Ayrshire to Go Purple for the Ayrshire Hospice

Chamber and Buzzworks urge Ayrshire to Go Purple

Posted on 25 August 2016 by Monika Reichelt

Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce and Buzzworks have been busy planning activities for the Ayrshire Hospice Go Purple Day on Friday 7th October!

Avid supporters of the hospice, Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce and Buzzworks, are keen to encourage individuals and organisations across Ayrshire to take part in this year’s Go Purple campaign.  It could be as simple as asking staff to “dress down purple” for the day and make a donation. Alternatively you can bake a purple cake, do a sponsored purple challenge, or even dye your hair purple – the possibilities are endless!

The Ayrshire Chamber will be holding a “Canapes, Cupcakes and Cocktails” event from 2.30pm-4.30pm in Elliots on Friday 7th October to coincide with the finale of their Ayrshire Business Week and also the end of Hospice Care Week.  Tickets for the event can be booked at

2016 will mark the 5th anniversary of Go Purple and the Ayrshire Chamber is one of the many organisations across Ayrshire who have kindly supported the Go Purple campaign since its inception.

Val Russell, Chief Executive of the Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce explained “The work of Ayrshire Hospice is renowned and we’re always delighted to support their Go Purple day and this year we are hosting a special event at Elliots in Prestwick. What's more, you'll get a chance to learn some tricks of the bar trade as  one of the skilled bartenders demonstrates how to make a delicious cocktail. From mixing and muddling to shaking and stirring -it will be fun for everyone!”

Ron Swanson, Assistant Fundraising Manager at the Ayrshire Hospice said “Go Purple is a fabulous campaign where it’s fun and easy for people to get involved in their local communities. We can’t wait to celebrate this year’s 5th anniversary and invite the Ayrshire community to join us in making Go Purple bigger and better than ever before!  We are truly grateful to Ayrshire Chamber and Buzzworks for getting behind the campaign and we hope that others will do the same.”

Last year Go Purple raised over £18,000 thanks to the groups and organisations across Ayrshire that took part. For further information or to sign up to take part in your own Go Purple fundraising activity, contact the fundraising team on 01292 288488 or email
