We are delighted to announce the winner of the Ayrshire Hospice “Castles of Ayrshire” photographic competition  2018 is Sylvia Watson, from Kilmarnock.  Sylvia has won a £150 shopping voucher generously donated by Vennal Camera Shop in Ayr and her photograph will feature on the front cover of the 2019 calendar.

Claire Stuart-Paulin, Senior Fundraiser called Sylvia to tell her the news and she was delighted with her success.  Sylvia said "We love the fact the competition has a theme, once the theme is announced we have a think about how to capture the best photograph and spend a few days out and about in Ayrshire – it’s great fun."  Sylvia’s husband Raymond Watson is also a keen photographer and has photographs featured in the calendar but Sylvia pipped him to the post with the winning shot.

The hospice calendar has been running for ten years and sells over 2,000 copies each year, raising over £9,000 for the hospice. Claire added “The theme this year was Castles of Ayrshire and we received over 300 entries – it was definitely a popular theme – there were so many beautiful photographs the judges found it hard to pick just twelve.  We’d like to thank everyone who took part, Alistair Firth for his professional expertise on the judging panel and a special thank you to Vennal Camera shop for donating the wonderful prize.’’

The Ayrshire Hospice calendar will be available for purchase in September at any of the eleven hospice shops or online.  Once we have decided on next year’s theme we’ll announce it so everyone can get snapping!
