A lotto help!

A lotto help!

On 13th February 2018 the Ayrshire Hospice lottery team hosted an event for their long-service lottery collectors within the hospice drop-in café to thank them for their loyal support.  It was a wonderful evening and a great opportunity to celebrate the team’s achievements and success of the hospice lottery.

The Ayrshire Hospice lottery began in 1994, before mobile phones and the Internet were commonplace!  The lottery now has over 14,000 members who are entered into the  draw each week and over twenty-three years on, 6,000 of our lottery members still prefer to pay their lottery money door-to-door to their collector. This is only possible due to the loyalty of our team of 72 hospice lottery collectors across Ayrshire. Since 1994, the Ayrshire Hospice lottery has generated almost £15million in lottery sales, raising over £683,000 in sales during 2016-17 alone.

Fiona Borland, Senior Lottery Officer at the Ayrshire Hospice said: “Our lottery collectors are a very essential part of our hospice lottery.  When adding up the funds raised by the long-service collectors at the event who had been with us for 15 years or more, collectively they had raised over £4 million in lottery sales.  Our collectors have been crucial to the lottery’s ongoing success and we can’t thank them enough for their fabulous support.”

The collectors received long-service awards on the evening itself with some people clocking up over 20 years’ service to the Ayrshire Hospice lottery.  Those receiving long-service awards on the night came from Ardrossan, Ayr, Kilwinning and Catrine to name but a few.

If anyone would be interested in joining or collecting for the lottery, please contact the lottery team on 01292 288488 or email lottery@ayrshirehospice.org.
