Les Gee

21 Jun 1955 - 28 Nov 2022

Les was nothing short of a meteor in our lives, the best husband and father I could have ever wished for. When Les was first diagnosed with Advanced bowel cancer we already knew it was a terminal diagnosis with life expectancy of 6 to 12 months given. In true Les style his only concern at that point and all the way through his illness has been the wellbeing of myself and the kids and in his words smashing the sh*t out of that timescale adamant he was gonna hit the 2 year marker and boy didn't he just do it ! Ayrshire Hospice and our dedicated team became involved immediately and our very own angel nurse Ria who soon became our first, second and primary go to person who understood everything physically and emotionally Les and the family were going through. The hospice team helped in every possible way they could to allow me to care for Les in the best possible way I could and fulfill his wishes of being at home till the end. I cannot express thanks enough to our angel Ria and the whole team who made every effort to keep Les comfortable like Christine who completely changed Les's opinions on alternative / complementary therapies and loved his reiki sessions....and as we all know our Les had opinions lol the team supported me by organising someone to come and give me a breather and time to pop out to walk the dog on the beach and sit quietly with a nice coffee and even now are not going to leave our sides they in time are going to support myself and the kids deal with the trauma and grief because no two ways cancer is not only a bi**h of a disease its been the most traumatic thing we've experienced. Les's wishes that no flowers be sent for the funeral he requested that donations be made to the Ayrshire Hospice. Thankyou all for your donations and to our nurse angel Ria and the team at Ayrshire Hospice your nothing short of amazing xx
