Volunteer Driver/Minibus Driver

Help make today matter by supporting the Hospice as a Volunteer Driver within the Patient Transport Team, and in particular in driving the minibus. 

We are looking for friendly, flexible individuals who would be willing to travel throughout Ayrshire either using their own car or driving the hospice minibus.

Volunteer drivers transport patients and carers to and from the hospice wither in a car or the minibus. There are occasions when the team take patients outwith Ayrshire.

If you are interested you should have a valid UK driving licence and have your own car (preferably 5 doors).However the following attributes are essential; 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate well to patients, families, carers and hospice staff

  • Possess a sensitive and calm approach to situations

  • Ability to be responsive to patient needs

  • Responsible and reliable

  • Be fit, healthy and competent to drive – reporting any health or other issues which may affect your driving through the course of your volunteering

How much time do I need to give?

Monday to Friday (flexible) but in particular Monday, Thursday and Friday - and the ability to commit to a weekly rota.
