Volunteering The difference volunteering makes to our hospice is immense. Volunteering positively enhances the hospice - broadening the range of skills and experience of our teams, establishing connections with our community, and allowing everyone to have more quality time to give. If you are interested in volunteering please check our current opportunities for volunteers. Volunteers have supported the hospice since its opening in 1989 and now offer well-established services in many different areas of the hospice on a daily basis. We currently have over 600 volunteers, between them contributing 126,038 hours of collective support last year. Our volunteers make an extremely positive contribution to hospice life. We are delighted to hold a Volunteer Friendly Award in recognition of our work with volunteers and our commitment to five key, best-practice principles: Involving volunteers Making volunteering happen Fair & equal volunteering Volunteering tasks and getting them done Celebrating volunteers contributions 'Volunteering at the hospice gave me a unique perspective on palliative care in the community'
