Go Purple
Fri, 11/10/2019
We're getting ready for our seventh annual Go Purple day on Friday 11th October 2019 and hope you'll join us. It's easy to get involved, so why not hold a "dress down purple" day, bake a purple cake, take a purple selfie and donate...whatever you do, just go purple! Last year Go Purple raised almost £22,000 thanks to the groups and organisations across Ayrshire that took part. Some held "wear it purple" days, wore purple wigs, held purple ice cream making contests and enjoyed purple themed afternoon teas!  We would love it if you, your workplace or school could take part in Go Purple this year. We want to build as much momentum as possible and would like to invite you to post Go Purple selfies leading up to the event and on the day. You can post pictures on our Facebook page @AyrshireHospice, use #gopurple2019 on Twitter or email photos to community@ayrshirehospice.org. For more purple fundraising ideas and support materials contact the community fundraising team on 01292 288488 or email community@ayrshirehospice.org.

2020 Overseas Trek - SHT Arctic Trek
Thu, 05/03/2020
Taking place from the 5th-10th March 2020 you will travel to Rovaniemi in Finland before beginning your three-day adventure.   The Arctic trek is considered “the best challenge ever” where you’ll make friends for life, take home memories that no pictures can impart, and where you will be part of something very few others will experience. If trekking up to 70km in temperatures as low as -30 degrees whilst dragging your equipment behind you in a pulk and sleeping in a tent along the Arctic Circle sounds amazing, then this perfect challenge for you! In addition to the tougher side of the challenge, there will also be the opportunity to tick off a few popular bucket list items; see some of the world’s most breathtaking scenery and glistening snowdrifts, spend a night in the Arctic Snow Hotel, catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights, but there is no guarantee that you will get to meet Santa Claus when you visit his official home town Rovaniemi. Minimum sponsorship for this trek is £3,700 with a £350 deposit For more information and fundraising targets please contact our Events team on 01292 288488 or e-mail events@ayrshirehospice.org

2020 Kilimanjaro Trek
Fri, 06/03/2020
It’s hard to believe it’s almost ten years since we last climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in March 2010 and we’re getting geared up for a very special 10th anniversary trek to, once again, take on the mighty mountain in Tanzania in March 2020! The trek will progress over six days along the Machame Route which is the most popular route on Kilimanjaro. Machame’s draw is in its scenic beauty. This route does have its challenges but with the correct training and preparation it’s sure to be the experience of a lifetime! Take it from me it’s pretty spectacular! Departing on 6th March for ten days, you’ll trek for six days and be able to experience many different surrounds including rainforest, heather and open moorland, baron moonlike landscape, the strange but beautiful Senecio Forest, the mighty Barranco Wall and the rocky ascent towards Uhuru Peak in darkness.  Minimum sponsorship for this trek is £4,505 with a £395 deposit.  Your fundraising can include events, activities and personal sponsorship and the fundraising team can help you with tips, tricks and ideas on how to raise your funds. If you’d like further information or have any questions, please contact the fundraising team on 01292 288488 or email events@ayrshirehospice.org

2020 Sahara Trek
Sat, 17/10/2020
An amazing opportunity to take part in a fabulous eight-day challenge across Morocco which will take on a five-day exhilarating trek along dried-out riverbeds of the Sahara, from oasis to oasis.  Trek deep into the Sahara over giant sand dunes and past towering mountains. Our route will snake its way through the desert’s emptiness, and along ancient irrigation channels that are still in use today. You’ll get the chance to camp out under the star-lit African sky, enjoy Moroccan feasts and might even catch the sight of a shooting star! And, to finish off this one-off trip, we will spend our last day and night in the colourful city of Marrakech. The Sahara Trek takes place between 17th - 24th October 2020 with a minimum sponsorship for this challenge of £2,305 plus £195 deposit.
