Living Well Support Volunteer

The Ayrshire Hospice is an experienced source of outstanding quality care and services which helps those with any life-limiting illness. Care is provided where there is no cure for the condition, but which improves the quality of each day for people who have a limited time to live. The hospice helps adults throughout Ayrshire and Arran with life limiting illness such as cancer, neurological conditions, end stage heart failure and lung disease. We help people to live as actively as they can to the end of their
lives - however long that may be, where ever that may be.

We not only take care of people’s physical needs but look after their emotional, spiritual and social needs too. Family members, close friends and carers are also supported both during a person’s illness and in bereavement. We provide care in a number of
places. These include people’s own homes, hospitals and care homes as well as in our purpose built day care and in-patient units. Wherever suits our patients best.

We are recruiting for four Living Well Support Volunteer's.

This role is to support people living in our communities to live well with their illness. We currently do this in a variety of ways – face to face in our Hubs, online via zoom, and via activity packs in the post. You could support us in any or all of these formats.

The time you would commit to this role would be flexible. Ideally, we would like ongoing (weekly) commitment to the service,
particularly for face to face service and social chat online. However, if you can commit a period of time regularly to the hospice e.g. a creative writing course for 6 weeks we would also consider this.
