We currently have a vacancy for a Social Worker within our Patient Services Team

 

About Us 

The Ayrshire Hospice provides quality specialist palliative care for adults with life-limiting illness within Ayrshire and Arran.  We provide a wide range of services and care in people’s homes, care homes and hospitals, as well as in the hospice itself.  This is provided at no cost to our patients or their families.  Our vision is to reach and improve the lives of everyone in Ayrshire affected by life-limiting illness. 

The Role and what we are looking for

We have an exciting and rare opportunity for a Social Worker with an appropriate qualification, e.g. CQSW or Dip.SW, and be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Scottish Social Services Council as a Social Worker. In your role you will provide an advisory and support service for patients, their families and their carers by working in collaboration with appropriate members of the multi-disciplinary team within primary and secondary health care, the voluntary sector and social services. You will direct and promote the specialist social work role within the Hospice and the high level interventions delivered to inpatients. 

You will promote Specialist Palliative Care in the community through education, audit and research in line with relevant local, regional and national strategies by adhering to professional standards, engage in continuous professional development, participate in delivering education and develop strong relationships with relevant external agencies. 

You must be passionate and have knowledge of palliative care, effective communication and interpersonal skills, be able to deal with distressing and emotional situations and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the Hospice and to provide practical, psychological, spiritual and emotional support to patients and their families.
