Come and Join the Hospice team making today matter for patients and families across Ayrshire.

The Ayrshire Hospice provides quality specialist palliative care for adults with life-limiting illness within Ayrshire and Arran.  We provide a wide range of services and care in people’s homes, care homes and hospitals, as well as in the hospice itself.  This is provided at no cost to our patients or their families.  Our vision is to reach and improve the lives of everyone in Ayrshire affected by life-limiting illness.

We currently have a vacancy for Senior Care Assistant within our busy Respite and Response team.

The Respite and Response team aims to enable patients with advanced non-curable disease to be cared for at home, and to die at home if that is their preference. We help to prevent unnecessary admission to hospital and help to expedite a rapid discharge from hospital.

We provide respite and/or support at a time of crisis allowing patients and their families’ additional options about their choices and wishes at end of life.

As a Senior Care Assistant you will be responsible for providing person centred care within the patient’s own home setting.  You will provide practical nursing care, emotional, social and psychological support to individuals with palliative care needs, supporting their families and carers to continue the caring role.

You will be highly motivated, flexible, resilient and forward thinking. The care assistant will rotate across departments when required and will be committed to continuous development of their knowledge and skills.

Applicants must have experience of working within a palliative care setting and it would be desirable to have experience of working within the community.

Applicants will hold an SVQ Level 3 in health care.  This role requires the successful candidates to hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work.

As part of the hospice team, you can enjoy a variety of benefits including a competitive salary, generous annual leave, organisational pension scheme, employee assistance programme, comprehensive induction, continuous learning and development opportunities and access to the NHS Staff Benefits Scheme.

If you are full of passion and enthusiastic about the difference you could make and making today matter then we look forward to hearing from you.

Please note that for posts where a Disclosure Scotland check is applicable, the cost for this will be met by the successful candidates.

Previous applicants need not apply.
