The Ayrshire Hospice is an experienced source of outstanding quality care and services which supports those affected by life limiting illness.  Care is provided where there is no cure for the condition, but which improves the quality of each day for those who have a limited time to live. This is an exciting time to join the Ayrshire Hospice as we move to East Ayrshire Community Hospital in February 2022 for 18 months while we rebuild our facilities at Racecourse Road to ensure we are providing services fit for the future. We are exploring opportunities for partnership working and developing our services further out in to the Ayrshire community.

Our Purpose

The Ayrshire Hospice, working together with others, will reach and improve the lives of everyone in Ayrshire affected by life limiting illness by delivering exceptional care.

Our commitment

In putting people at the heart of everything we do, we will work together to:

  • Support every person as a unique and valued individual
  • Respect the dignity of everyone
  • Listen to and respect the wishes of people

This role is a full-time, permanent post for a lead practitioner to support our Patient and Family Support Team and develop their role within the wider inter-disciplinary hospice team. This team includes counselling, spiritual care and social work practitioners.

The Lead Practitioner will scope the development of bereavement support services for children and young people, linking with local schools and wider community groups. A priority will be engaging with the local community to explore partnership opportunities on issues of death, dying and bereavement. You should also have an interest in and experience of providing education to increase the confidence and resilience of staff who provide support to patients, families and carers.

At the Ayrshire Hospice we strive to live by our Hospice values and commitments, where every staff member has a sense of belonging. We value our differences and fully advocate, cultivate and support an inclusive working environment where staff treat one another with dignity and respect. We aim to create an equitable working environment where every individual can fulfil their potential.

As part of the hospice team, you can enjoy a variety of benefits including a competitive salary, generous annual leave, organisational pension scheme, employee assistance programme, comprehensive induction, continuous learning and development opportunities and access to the NHS Staff Benefits Scheme.

If you are full of passion and enthusiastic about the difference you could make providing excellent care and making today matter then we look forward to hearing from you.

Please note that for posts where a Disclosure Scotland check is applicable, the cost for this will be met by the successful candidate.

Full UK Driving Licence required and access to your own vehicle.
