SALARY:  Band 6- £33,083-£40,749

We are looking for a caring, motivated and experienced Children and Young Person’s Practitioner to join our Patient and Family Care Team with a commitment to “making today matter” for patients and families. This role is full time hours however there is room for flexibility for the right person.  

 

The successful post holder will hold a postgraduate qualification or an equivalent counselling qualification and be registered with an appropriate counselling governing body (BACP/COSCA).   

About Us 

 

The Ayrshire Hospice provides quality specialist palliative care for adults with life-limiting illness within Ayrshire and Arran.  We provide a wide range of services and care in people’s homes, care homes and hospitals, as well as in the hospice itself.  This is provided at no cost to our patients or their families.  Our vision is to reach and improve the lives of everyone in Ayrshire affected by life-limiting illness. 

 

The Role and what we are looking for 
 

The successful applicant will support the patient and family care service to deliver psychosocial support to children and young people seeking pre or post bereavement support.  The candidate should be experienced in working with children and young people in a caring capacity and will have comprehensive knowledge of GIRFEC/Curriculum of Excellence policy documents. 

The candidate should be aware that Ayrshire Hospice will decant from their Racecourse Road site in February 2022 to East Ayrshire Community Hospital for a period of approx. 18 months to allow for build of new Hospice facilities and this post will be based at this temporary site for this period. 

There is a requirement to demonstrate sound knowledge of bereavement, particularly in relation to children and young people.  The post holder will require to demonstrate a high level of understanding of a range of counselling therapies, in particular issues within palliative care
