As part of our Light up a Life Appeal, we have been inviting the people of Ayrshire to dedicate a star on the Ayrshire Hospice virtual Christmas trees, hosted on our website, in loving memory of someone special.

We've had fantastic support for our Councils throughout 2021 and this has extended to branding their outdoor Christmas trees with our star and accompanying QR donation code to help us raise the profile of our appeal to secure vital funds for the Hospice.

If you're in and around Ayr, please take the trip to Burns Statue Square where you'll see South Ayrshire's flagship tree illuminated as a treasured symbol for those remembering loved ones this Christmas.

Councillor William Grant and Ron Swanson our Assistant Fundraising Manager

Councillor William Grant, South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Children & Young People, and Business Ambassador for the Ayrshire Hospice kindly joined us for an unveiling and commented:

"The Ayrshire Hospice's 'Light up a Life' appeal is a wonderful way to celebrate the lives of those who are no longer with us. I am delighted that the Council has been able to support this campaign, and I'm sure that the placement of this banner in such a prominent location as Burns Statue Square will really help to raise awareness."

In North Ayrshire, our Light up a Life appeal has seen all ten of the Council's outdoor Christmas trees, plus indoor trees in public libraries throughout the area, decorated in purple with an accompanying QR code to donate online.

You can visit the flagship tree in Irvine outside the Rivergate Shopping Centre, beautifully decorated in aid of the Hospice, where Provost Ian Clarkson commented:

"We are proud to support the Ayrshire Hospice this Christmas to help them raise funds so they can reach and improve the lives of those affected by life-limiting illness in Ayrshire. The 'Light up a Life' appeal provides a unique and thoughtful way to light up the memories of those who have passed away and shine a warm light on the families of North Ayrshire who need support from the Ayrshire Hospice."
