On 1st January 2021, friends Kelly Moss & Ross Allardice took on the epic virtual challenge of running the distance between Land's End and John O'Groats to raise money for 3 charities including Ayrshire Hospice. That's a massive 874 miles...EACH!

Friends since university, Ross & Kelly now live at opposite ends of the country. Kelly in Fleet in the South of England. Ross in Bishopbriggs in Glasgow and together the set their target of completing this challenge by the end of 2021.

Ross explained their reason for choosing Ayrshire Hospice.

"I'm pleased to hopefully raise some money and give something back with this challenge. This seems more important than ever given the impact on charity work as a consequence of the pandemic.

Ayrshire Hospice is a charity close to my heart. My mum, Marion received exceptional end of life care when she stayed with the hospice in late 2018. I can't praise the nurses and doctors highly enough for the support given to my mum and our family during that time."

Back in January, travel restrictions were extremely strict due to the pandemic but as these eased, more freedom allowed them to run longer distances and in different locations. They were determined and totally focussed on their goal.

Congratulations to both of them as they completed their challenge well ahead of schedule last month!! This is an incredible achievement. Not only in smashing their target of 874 miles each but in smashing their fundraising target too!

For the 3 charities, Ross & Kelly raised an amazing £2,519 with £874 donated to Ayrshire Hospice.

"We've been overwhelmed by people's generosity from family, friends, work colleagues, clients, neighbours and also strangers who we don't even know! :) "

Huge thank you to Ross & Kelly - what an achievement and we appreciate all your support. This is an incredible lockdown memory to look back and be proud of!
