We currently have vacancies for Garden Team volunteers, based at Racecourse Road, Ayr. 

Garden Volunteers use their green fingers to contribute to the maintenance and development of the hospice gardens.  Gardens and horticulture play an important role in hospices, providing a peaceful location for patients, families and carers and also being used in programmes of therapy.

The role requires:

  • Maintain a specific area of the hospice garden which can involve - watering, weeding, planting, feeding, trimming and disposing of plants where required.
  • Keep records of actions during shift and update Facilities Manager where required.
  • Attendance at relevant training and team meetings.
  • Adherence to the relevant policies and procedures of the hospice.

How much time do I need to give?

Weekly commitment of 2 hours, although this can change depending on the season.
