Come and join the hospice team making today matter for patients and families across Ayrshire.  We currently have a vacancy for a Community and Triage Manager within our Patient Services Directorate.

Ayrshire Hospice provides quality specialist palliative care for adults with life-limiting illness within Ayrshire and Arran.  We provide a wide range of services and care in people’s homes, care homes and hospitals, as well as in the hospice itself.  This is provided at no cost to our patients or their families.  Our vision is to reach and improve the lives of everyone in Ayrshire affected by life-limiting illness.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated nurse with experience of working in a palliative care setting to join our patient services team. As our Community and Triage Team Manager, you will help to shape future service delivery by leading a skilled team providing high quality palliative and end of life care.

The main duties and responsibilities of the role include the

  • Management of the community, respite and response and triage services, providing high quality, positive and professional leadership through mentorship, supervision and support.
  • Development of a higher level of advanced practice that’s aligns with the hospice vision and values.
  • Work alongside the Patient Services Director, you will ensure our continued involvement and participation in the operational and strategic planning of palliative care services within the hospice and across NHS Ayrshire and Arran.
  • Accountable for the direct delivery of the specialist palliative care service from the point of referral onwards for people within the community.
  • Collaborate with primary and secondary health care, the voluntary sector and social services to provide expert advice as necessary.
  • Promote specialist palliative care through education, audit and research in line with relevant local, regional and national strategies.

  • Current NMC registration
  • Degree in nursing
  • A leadership or management qualification (or a desire to work towards this).
  • Experience of management / leadership of clinical staff
  • Clinical experience and evidence of professional development in a community or palliative care setting
  • excellent communication skills
