Fundraise Supporter Spotlight Saltcoats Flute Band Charity Cycle On what was possibly the wettest day in August, the Saltcoats Protestant Flute Band took to their bikes for the 2nd year running! The team, including 11 year old Callum, set out on Saturday 21st August to cycle from Ardrossan cemetery to Nethermains and then headed over to The Waterside Hotel for a pit-stop before heading home - completing the 20 mile trip. This is the 2nd year the band has decided to take on the cycling challenge in memory of their member Gary Woods, who passed away in March 2020. The fastest finisher from 2021 was Paul Clemence, who now has the honour of wearing the coveted yellow jersey for next year's 2022 cycle! Congratulations and we look forward to seeing if you can retain your title next year. The horrible weather didn't put the group off as they battled the wind and rain, raising an amazing £3,750!! From this incredible amount, the group donated £3,000 to Ayrshire Hospice and £150 to each of the following charities: MND Scotland, Alzheimer's Scotland, MacMillan Cancer Care Scotland, Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland and Diabetes Research Scotland. After raising £8,082 last year, the band have now donated an amazing £11,082 to the hospice! Head of fundraising, Tracey Corrigan, met with Frank McKee (Chairman), John McKee (Treasurer) and some of the band member to say thank you for all their support in raising the phenomenal amount of the past two years. Thank you so much to all the cyclists along with their friends, families and supporters for their generous donations and support.
