Jim Gilchrist and volunteer fundraising go hand in hand. He has been volunteering for over ten years for the hospice, starting by giving up his time answering phones and speaking to visitors at the hospice.

But that wasn’t enough. Jim then decided to organise his own fundraising events beginning with a Red & Black themed dinner event to help celebrate the hospice’s 21st anniversary which was such a success that it gave him the drive to do more.jim gilchrist

From that point on, Jim has organised at least one event each year which have included a quiz night, Heroes & Villains themed dance, Wild West event, Glitter Ball (for the hospice’s 25th anniversary), Las Vegas night and Wedding Ball. Through these events Jim has also signed up f
or two of the hospice’s Grand Challenges - to boost his fundraising target for his second Grand Challenge, Jim pulled out all the stops and organised a Fire Walk for nineteen individuals including himself.

Jim has also worked at some of the hospice events throughout the year. He supports the fundraising team during their events and has given up many of his days off work to volunteer at the hospice Ladies Night, Flower Shows and many of our Starlight Walks (including participating in some of them).

“I have had the pleasure of meeting some kind and caring people as well as making new contacts for future events and some great new friends for life. Working with the hospice family has been a great pleasure and fantastic experience which I will never forget.”
