Light up a Life is the time of year when folk from across Ayrshire gather together to remember the lives of those special people who are no longer with us.

It’s where we come together to share the natural feeling of loss and grief – but also to remember and celebrate the special moments with those who were so precious to us.

Supporting our Light up a Life Appeal is a wonderful way to remember a loved one – whether they received care from our hospice or not - at Christmas time.

Hospice care is about so much more than the medical care. Everyone we care for at the hospice is more than a patient – they’re a person with friends and family, with hopes and ambitions for the future.

Please take time to read Lucy Fawcett’s story. Lucy’s mum, Kay, died in January 2019 and she explains why Ayrshire Hospice care is so special and so important to her. You can read Lucy's story here.

Your gift today will help pay for just a little of the nursing care that our team will be providing to patients and their families over Christmas.

  • One hour of direct nursing care over Christmas for someone on our In-Patient Unit will cost £19.63.
  • £50 would be enough to enable a patient's family stay for two nights close to their loved one in our 'Wee House'.
  • And £100 would help towards a home visit by our community nurses.

With your support, we can help patients and families across the whole of Ayrshire create special memories this Christmas and make the most of the time they have together, no matter how long or short that time may be.

Thank you.
