In - Patient Care Our In-patient unit provides accommodation for 20 patients in a relaxed and caring environment enabling admission for:
Care is provided by a multi-professional team who speciallise in palliative care. The team includes doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapist, chaplain and social workers. Patients can enjoy hairdressing and beauty services, a variety of leisure and social activities and the lovely gardens. Prior to admission, when possible, patients and / or families are encouraged to visit the Hospice. There is open visiting between the hours of 2:00 - 8:30pm, Tuesday - Sunday inclusive. There is no visiting on Mondays except by arrangement. This is to give both patient and family a rest day. Arrangements can be made for families to stay in the Hospice should the need arise.
Hospital Palliative Care Support In addition to care for patients within the Hospice, regular sessions in palliative medicine are provided to Ayr and Crosshouse NHS Hospitals by the Hospice consultants. The aim of these sessions is to improve the standard of palliative care, especially symptom control and to provide education in the subject to hospital Staff.
