In Patient Care

Patients are admitted to the In-patient Unit for assessment and provision of care. This may include symptom control, nursing care, rehabilitation or end of life care. Respite care can also be provided for a short period of time. This can be pre-arranged with your Specialist Palliative Care Nurse.

The patient will be cared for by the clinical team who are qualified and skilled in Specialist Palliative Care. Each patient is admitted under the care of one of the three consultants in Palliative Medicine. A named nurse will also be allocated to the patient. This registered nurse will be responsible for developing and agreeing a plan of care with the patient.

Prior to admission, where possible, patients and/or families are encouraged to visit the Hospice.

The In-patient Unit can accommodate 20 patients in single, double or three bedded rooms in a relaxed and caring environment.

Included in the facilities are comfortable lounge areas, a quiet room and extensive gardens. Each bed is provided with an individual television and radios can be provided on request.
