Headwayr Services
Based at The Ayrshire Hospice, Headwayr was the first service of its kind in Scotland. It is free and available to those who are experiencing or anticipating treatment-related hair loss.
Headwayr offers an attractive choice of alternative headwear for occasions when the client does not wish to wear a wig. Cotton scarves and hats offer a stylish and comfortable alternative which helps the client feel attractive and boost their confidence. A wide selection of scarves and hats are available to purchase at low cost.
Clients are seen at a private consultation, by appointment, within the hairdressing salon at the Hospice. The Hospice Hairdresser or an experienced volunteer will demonstrate and advise in how to tie scarves and wear hats to enhance appearance.
Advice can also be given on make-up and hair loss/scalp care.
