Day Hospice
The Day Hospice is one of the specialist services providing a link between the Hospice and the community setting. Access to a wide range of services is available through Day Hospice and patients have the opportunity to socialise with other patients and meet with members of the Hospice team.
The Day Hospice is open from Monday to Friday, 10.00 am to 3.30 pm, excluding public holidays, providing care for sixteen patients daily.
Referrals to the Day Hospice are made by the Hospice clinical team after the patient's needs have been assessed.
Transport Options include:
- Patient's own transport
- Hospice volunteer driver
- Hospice minibus
Day Hospice aims to:
- Provide a safe and therapeutic environment
- Give an opportunity for patients to express their fears and worries
- Offer medical review
- Offer nursing assessment and intervention
- Give respite for patient, family or carer
- Provide an opportunity for patients to share experiences with others and learn new skills
- Provide access to other Hospice clinical team members
