Bereavement Support

The Ayrshire Hospice provides grief and bereavement support for the patient, family and carers during the life of the patient and continuing after death.

The Bereavement Support Service offers support to the families and carers of Hospice patients. Our aim is to assist the bereaved through the normal processes of grief.

Bereavement and grief are natural processes. The majority of people will cope with their loss in their own way and in their own time, often with the support of family and friends. However, for some people this can be difficult and, for any number of reasons, they may need additional help to come to terms with their loss.

Our aim is to be accessible and to respond flexibly to the unique needs of each individual person. The provision of bereavement care is varied and ranges from the provision of information to individual or group support and referral on to specialised support.

Our Bereavement Support Service is co-ordinated by the Chaplain and Social Worker.
