Link Nurse Initiative
The Ayrshire Hospice has developed a "Link Nurse" partnership with care homes situated within Ayrshire.
The aim of this project is to promote a two way sharing of best practice in palliative care so that the Scottish Executive 2006 National Practice Statements for General Palliative Care in Adult Care Homes in Scotland can be addressed.
Each care home can nominate one or two members of their nursing team to be a link nurse. The link nurse who would then cascade information back to colleagues in individual care homes.
There is a current annual fee of £30 for registering one link nurse and £50 for registering two. This will give the Link Nurse the opportunity to:
- Participate in regular reflective practice sessions
- Access resources and support from the Hospice Education Department.
- Network with other links nurses across Ayrshire
- Advice and support with regards to the education of the care home team
- A 50% reduction in hospice course fees for all members of the care home team.
